Make the weather easier to read on iPhone

Start with your iPhone’s text settings, then check the weather app itself. A forecast screen can respond differently from the menus around it.

Apple documents both standard text sizes and additional accessibility sizes. The instructions below were checked against Apple’s guidance on September 19, 2026.

Adjust the standard text size

Open Settings, choose Display & Brightness, then Text Size. Move the slider toward the larger sizes. Open your weather app again and look at the temperature, the forecast list, and any alert.

Try the additional text sizes

For more options, open Settings, choose Accessibility, then Display & Text Size. Open Larger Text and enable Larger Accessibility Sizes. Adjust the slider to a size you find comfortable.

Apple notes that very large text can make some controls harder to use in an app. Check that labels remain visible and that you can still reach the controls you need. See Apple’s text-size instructions.

Turn on Bold Text and stronger contrast

In the same Display & Text Size screen, turn on Bold Text to make type heavier everywhere, and Increase Contrast to make colors stronger. Reduce Transparency makes backgrounds solid. See Apple’s guide to making text easier to read.

Set a preference for one app

Your iPhone also has Per-App Settings under Accessibility. Add an app there to choose a larger text size or Bold Text for that app alone. See Apple’s guide to settings for specific apps.

Hear the screen instead

Speak Screen reads everything on the screen aloud. Open Settings, choose Accessibility, then Spoken Content, and turn on Speak Screen. Then swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers. See Apple’s Speak Screen instructions.

Inspect four parts of the weather app

• Read the current temperature. It should be the largest number on the screen.
• Read today’s high and low, and check that they are clearly separate.
• Open an alert if one is in effect, and check that the full text uses the same size as the rest of the app.
• Find the radar’s play button and the location switcher, and check that they are still reachable at your size.

An app may draw its main screen using its own sizing rules. If changing the iPhone text settings only affects the menus, look for the app’s own size controls or consider another app. The readable app checklist can help you compare.
